On Tuesday, January 26, 2010, Cumulus Nashville and Feed the Children converged at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville to deliver 10 tractor-trailers full of food to needy families of Middle Tennessee.  The convoy of semis and station remote vehicles began arriving on site at 6:00 a.m. to unload 2000 care packages which contained a 25-pound box of food items, a 10-pound box of personal care items, along with Avon products and coats.  By 9:00 a.m., the line of pre-qualified families ran the length of the massive fairground as people stood in near-freezing temperatures to pick up their supplies.

The 2000 families in today’s food distribution are only about half of those that will receive assistance.  Supplies for an additional 2,000 families will be distributed by other Feed the Children partner agencies throughout the Middle Tennessee area.

Today’s event marks the 3rd year of this partnership effort.  Since Cumulus Nashville stations 97.1 RQQ, 95.5 The Wolf, i-106 Nashville’s Hit Music Station, Supertalk 99.7 WTN and 92Q Nashville’s Big Station starting working with Feed the Children, more than 10,000 families have benefited from their efforts.
